How To Create An Email List (Is The Money In The List?)

That’s a myth.

The money isn’t in the list.

The money is in the relationship you have with your list. That’s the real asset.

A hand sending out emails with hearts to convey building a relationship with your email list.

Building a list should really be your #1 priority.

To build an email list, you must lay out some foundational ground rules and set-up.

You can’t “create” an email list but you can create how you are going to build and nurture it.

Building An Email List From Scratch

Now that’s it’s super clear that the money in is the relationship with the people on your list (or soon to be), you’ll next need to know who you want to do business with.

We don’t want to be all things to all people.

It’s important to understand who you are really trying to speak to.

So, to start your game plan, you’ll need to get clear on who you don’t want to do business with and who you do.

#1 Figure Out Who You Are Targeting

Get some customer insights like:

  • where they live
  • what are they’re pain points
  • their fears
  • their issues
  • their wants… desires
  • goals…

So, the sales funnel you create must be “customer-centered”.

In my video above, I go into a basic structure and set-up for email list building.

This way your marketing with your email copy will be more consistent and you’ll have more fun knowing that the people on your list actually want to be there.

Especially if you position yourself and get super clear about your core message.

I want highly driven, risk-takers who are resourceful, want a better life for themselves and their families being in online business using the high ticket affiliate model.

You’ll be saying things that your audience cares about. There’s more of a connection that way, an emotional connection.

#2 Getting Your Landing Page Together (Your Conversion System)

The whole system you build here will basically build off of what I talked about above regarding… knowing who you want to work with and positioning yourself to only attract that person.

The marketing you do here has to match the needs of the person. Help them solve their problems.

Let’s make that emotional connection here and show that person that we can help solve their problems.

Lead Capture Examples:

Russel Brunson's Dotcom secrets book:

Bob Proctor (old school landing page):

Bob Proctor sample email optin
Bob Proctor sample email optin
I just love Bob Proctor!

Do these examples work?

Of course, and there’s no reason why you can’t model after these.

You’ll play on people's curiosity and a bribe.

Instead of just using a simple, “give me your email and I’ll give you this…”

Give value upfront before they even give their email.

That way you’re attracting the person you want and not a freebie seeker.

Offer them something of value first… like a video or written text… then have the opt-in below that.
